"​​Where do I begin?  I want this to be more than just simply saying that Tamara has made me stronger, or that she is a tough, yet compassionate trainer, or that she changed my life- all of which are true.  I want to say HOW she is and had done all those things and more. 

I have never been an active person.  I tried going to the gym and I hated it because I would rather spend all my time on the couch watching television.  My unhealthy relationship with food and mostly sedentary lifestyle is what caused me to be overweight for most of my adult life.  I wasn’t happy with my body or myself in general, but it still didn’t motivate me to get active or make major lifestyle changes.  In 2010, I had a liver resection, which is a very serious surgery that saved my life.  I have a giant scar that stretches across my abdomen.  Since then, I have had surgery to repair two hernias, plus I gave birth to my beautiful son via Cesarean section.  With three abdominal surgeries, I was certain that I didn’t have any ab muscles left, so I convinced myself there was no point in working out. 

In the spring of 2014, Tamara announced that she received her personal training license and she was excited to start training people.  She had a few clients already, but in June I decided that I would ask her to train me.  I knew working out was not something I could do on my own because I need someone to push me and make me accountable.  My first workout, she had me do exercises that I hadn’t done in years.  Jumping jacks, sit-ups, crunches, and weight lifting were on the menu for that day.  I could barely get through the hour.  I didn’t say anything then, but I cried after that first day because I was so ashamed of myself for being so weak and out of shape.  I didn’t want to go back.  Then the next day, I felt something that I didn’t even know I could feel ever again- MY ABS!!!  I was certain they were too hacked up from the three surgeries to even exist! By the way, I also realized that day that you do use your abs to steer your car…ouch!  I was happy.  I figured that if I could feel that good after just one day, then I wanted to know how good I would feel after one week, month, and year.  So I went back and I haven’t stopped.

I have been working out with Tamara for over a year and I can’t even put into words how different of a person I am.  I hated running, and now I look forward to Saturday morning running around the lake.  I couldn’t do one sit-up and now I can do as many as I want!  I can do over 80 jumping jacks in a minute and not be out of breath.  I now have a waistline that I forgot I had before I gained all the weight.  I have muscles that I didn’t even know existed.  I am stronger and healthier, but most importantly, I am happier. 

I still have a long way to go, but I have complete faith that Tamara will help me get there.  She doesn’t just train the body, she trains the whole person.  She cares about each and every one of her clients personally, and it comes through in her pride when each of us hits a new milestone.  Each and every one of us is grateful for what she has done for us, and we love her dearly."
